Which epoxy do I need?

Mr.Boat supplies different types of epoxy. Here you will find an overview of what to use best and how to combine best with other products.

Mr.Boat Epoxy

MrBoat_epoxy_1500_gramThe most sold, universal epoxy for coating, glueing, putty and laminating on wood, (most) synthetics like polyester, steel, aluminum, concrete and stone.

Application:

Boatbuilder and repair. Surf boards, aquaria, modelling, every kind of repair, Do it yourself, (concrete)floors.

Qualities:

Mechanically very strong, watertight, transparant with a very light yellow shadow. Does not smell or hardly with an easy mix of 1:2. Limited UV resistant when applied transparant. In this case we advice to add a UV blocker. You can finish with a UV resistant (yacht)varnish.
Cure time about 40 minuten at 20 degrees Celcius. Complete cure after about 24 hours.

To combine with:

- Fillers to make epoxy glue or putty
- (Glass)fabrics to make constructions or construction reinforcements
- Pigments
- Copper powder to make copper coat for your underwater hull
- UV-Blocker

To work with:

- Roller
- Brush
- Casting

Mr.Boat Injection epoxy 

MrBoat_injecteerepoxy_750_gramMr.Boat injection epoxy is a thin flowing epoxy which penetrates deep in the porous material.

Applications:

As first seal for end grain wood, very bending underlays, concrete, brick etc.

Qualities:

Thin flowing. Does hardly smell with an easy mix of 1:2. Mechanically less strong than universal epoxy. Cure time about 40 minutes at 20 degrees Celcius. Complete cure after about 24 hours.

Mr.Boat Cast-Photo epoxy

MrBoat_gietepoxy_1_literCrystal clear cast/photo epoxy with a long cure time in order to cast thick layers without forming bubbles.

Applications:

Decorative use, casting objects, paintings and pictures, table tops and other furniture.

Qualities:

Mix of 1:1. Crystal clear, UV resistant. During curing time little heat is being released. Therefore cure time is only after about 24 hours at 20 degrees Celsius. Any air bubbles are then able to rise. Cast thickness per layer at a max of about 8 cm. No decay of underlying varnishes etc. Watertight, as well for outdoor. Mechanically less strong and meant for decorative use.

Epoxy-putty

MrBoat-epoxyplamuur-1000gramHandy ready to go epoxy putty.

Qualities:

Easy mix of 1:1. Cures without shrinking. Easy to sand. Color white. Cure time about 40 minuten at 20 degrees Celsius. Complete cure after about 12 hours.

Applications:

Putty uneven underlays of wood, (most) synthetics like polyester, steel, aluminum, concrete and stone.

To combine with:

- Pigments

To work with:

- Putty knife
- Tongue depressor/squeegee

Epoxy paste 

MrBoat-epoxy-kneedpasta-1200-gram2-Components paste for all kinds of quick repairs.

Qualities:

Quick cure time. Becomes cast-iron. Use from 0° C. After curing resistant up to 100° C. Excellent suture to almost anything. Suitable for use under water. Easy to knead through hand heat. Doesn't stick to fingers. Cure time several hours (can then be painted). Complete cure after about 24 hours.

Applications:

All kinds of quick repairs on virtually any underlay. Can even be used under water.

To work with:

- Hand
- Putty knife
- Tongue depressor/squeegee

Epoxy foam

MrBoat-epoxyschuim-160gramDiehard epoxy foam that increases fivefold the original volume.

Qualities:

Special epoxy resin and hardener which are mixed at 1:2. Then you add a blowing agent (1-5%) that will increase the volume fivefold the original volume. The less blowing agent, the tougher the foam. Epoxy foam is watertight. Cure time is 5-10 minuten at 20 degrees Celsius. Final strength is reached after about 24 hours.

Applications:

Quickly filling up hollow spaces where foam should give enough strength. The foam becomes a diehard, watertight foam which can be screwed and nailed. You can also use the foam to make a form, used for molds.

To work with:

- Funnel
- Mixing cup
- Roller
- Brush
